Nearly a week after the grand unveiling of the new iPhone series, the tech giant Apple has confirmed the key specs for it. According to the company, all new models will feature 8GB RAM.
9to5Mac reported that Apple executive Johny Srouji confirmed this in an interview. Generally, Apple doesn’t include the RAM data in the official specs provided to the general public. We don’t know why Apple does this. Usually, some detective work is required to check the amount of memory Apple devices have.
This is also confirmed by a code spotted in an official Apple developer tool. So, now all the iPhone 16 series devices will come fitted with 8GB RAM.
Last year, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were the only models to have 8GB RAM inside. The regular iPhone 15 models had only 6GB RAM.
So, it means that this year, the regular iPhone devices are an upgrade from last year in the RAM department. However, the Pro and Pro Max models don’t have extra RAM. So, there is less of a distinction between them. Now, hardware-wise, the regular and pro models are pretty much the same, apart from the cameras.
Among the tech community, this news is pretty disappointing as they hoped that the new device would come with significant improvements in that department because of the AI stuff. Apple is rolling out a lot of AI-related features specific to the Pro models but isn’t increasing the RAM a bit.
When we compare Apple devices with Android devices in the same price range, they are way behind hardware-wise. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with 12 GB RAM.
