Apple is gearing up to launch the much-anticipated update iOS 18.2 in the upcoming week, it will introduce a suite of advanced Apple intelligence tools which were postponed from the iOS 18 launch last fall. However, the most astonishing aspect of this upcoming iPhone firmware release is a transforming change in how the device of the users operates. It finally puts an end to those annoying green message bubbles.
The ongoing debate over green versus blue bubbles is predominantly a phenomenon popular in America. The U.S. has been the only main market where WhatsApp has struggled to gain traction which led to a scenario where they all appear to be the same when connected through WhatsApp, where users are on an iPhone or an Android. This creates a sense of equality and inclusivity in communication.
However, Americans have started to embrace the platform and Meta and CEO Mark Zuckerberg celebrated the milestone of 100 million WhatsApp users in the U.S. this summer. Many of the users have noticed the billboards and ads that feature Modern Family, highlighting the advantages of smooth and secure messaging across different platforms.
Yet, this surge in interest has not eradicated the green bubbles, the resolution to this issue looks like it hinges on two governmental entities, the FBI and China’s Ministry of State Security in the United States.
The Chinese have initiated the situation, not directly through the MSS but via a hacking group which is linked to them that infiltrated U.S. telecom networks. In response to this, the FBI issued a warning advising U.S. citizens to refrain from sending unsecured text messages.
In conclusion, blue remains secure and green bubbles represent unsecured messages, in FBI’s warnings, the indication was towards the green bubbles. This unexpected update will empower users to finally change their default applications for the first time.
