Meta: So far, Apple hasn’t charged extra for its AI— but as per the recent update, analytics predict that Apple may charge up to $20 for using Advanced AI features.
Apple wants to increase its investment in artificial intelligence and might transfer this cost burden to consumers, Neil Shah, who is a partner at Counterpoint Research, has said.
Shah, also added, “Software and services make it more lucrative for Apple to pass it on with the Apple One subscription model,”.
The analyst suggests they could charge between $10 and $20 for Apple Intelligence AI, potentially as part of Apple One subscription service in the future, which would provide more advanced features.
This makes it distinctly unique, as many other hardware firms have struggled or failed entirely at monetizing software, unlike hardware firms that have gotten revenue from their device sales according to the results of the June quarter, where their services brought in $24.2 billion.
Ben Wood, CCS Insight research chief, noted that “Apple is one of the few connected device companies that has successfully monetized the value-added services it offers,” he told CNBC in an interview.
Moreover, as per the sources, Apple is expected to reveal its plans for AI monetization, which could include offering paid-for premium AI capabilities, thereby affecting the entire industry.
