Team Asobi’s ‘Astro Bot’ clinched the prestigious Game of the Year award at the 11th Game Awards which was celebrated on Thursday at the Peacock in Los Angeles. In addition to this top honour, ‘Astro Bot’ also triumphed in different categories such as Best Family Game, Best Action Adventure and Best Director.
Among the other notable winners, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth took home the awards for Best Score and Music. ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ was considered the Best Action Game, while both Best Debut Indie and Best RPG were bagged by ‘Balatro’. The award for Best Narratives was awarded to the Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Both ‘Astro Bot’ and ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’ entered the event with a remarkable seven nominations each. In the Game Awards last year, ‘Alan Wake 2’ and ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ took centre stage. ‘Alan Wake’ secured three wins and Baldur’s Gate achieved six which also includes the coveted Game of the Year title.
In a celebration of the decade-long legacy of the ceremony, the tech-driven awards show dazzled with star-studded appearances and unexpected announcements. Naughty Dog revealed an exciting new dystopian space adventure game with the title, ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ which features Tati Gabrielle.
For the third consecutive year, The Game Awards 2024 recognised groundbreaking, game-inspired projects in the Best Adaptation category, with Amazon MGM Studios’s Fallout bagging the award.
