If the users are going with premium access to play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PC, they must be aware that the game will not consist of any full ray tracing right away. The early access for those who bought the Premium and Collector’s Editions kicked off at 7 PM ET on the 5th of December, however, the full ray tracking capabilities will only be introduced on the 9th of December. This is in coexisting with the official launch of the game for all players.
According to a plot from Nvidia, the updates once released, players can expect shadows, global illumination and reflections to be rendered with precision through Full Ray Tracing, majorly enhancing the visual experience. In addition to this, DLSS Ray Reconstruction is on the horizon as it was noted in a recent media alert.
The delay in the rollout of advanced graphics options might be disappointing for early-access purchasers, especially when the price tag is considered, $99.99 is set for the Premium Edition which indicates a $30 jump from the standard edition which is priced at $69.99.
The game requires robust PC specifications that need GPU hardware raytracing even at menial settings, the rationale behind this requirement has been explained by the CTO of MachineGames, Jim Kjellin.
He stated that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle employs a method which is referred to as Global illumination to illuminate both the characters as well as the environment. The engine, MOTOR has been developed by MachineGames that is dependent on hardware ray tracing for the calculations. While it may not be in alignment with the conventional understanding of ray tracing which is the necessary hardware important for achieving high performance as well as fidelity.
The great circle will also be available for users on Xbox Series X/S with the release of PS5 scheduled for 2025 Spring.
