The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are expected to be the very latest generation of super speedy Wi-Fi, according to a new report. They might also support higher data speeds.
According to a report by DigiTimes, the iPhone 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max devices are set to come with Wi-Fi 7, which would be a massive upgrade over the Wi-Fi 6E present in iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max devices.
The new Wi-Fi standard Wi-Fi 7 is significantly faster than Wi-Fi 6E. The theoretical speeds of the latest generation Wi-Fi standard can reach over 40Gbps, approx. four times faster than the current Wi-Fi 6E. Not only that, but the latest generation also offers lower latency and greater reliability for a great experience. This would be life-changing especially for gaming users.
Well, we should take this leak with a pinch of salt, however, this is not the first time we’ve heard about this. Last year, an analyst made the same claim about the upcoming iPhones. He has been a reliable source of information.
One thing to note here is that to take full advantage of Wi-Fi 7, your device needs to be connected to a router that supports it. Most of the routers on the market don’t support this as of yet. Besides this, you may not be on a very high-speed data plan. You would also need to upgrade that to take advantage of Wi-Fi 7.
So, all in all, the addition of the new Wi-Fi standard is more like future proofing the device than providing benefits on release. It would still be a nice upgrade to have.
Whether this comes with the iPhone or not, remains to be seen.
