LinkedIn has been testing in-feed video carousels over the past few weeks, you may have noticed it on the platform. Now, the company is launching them for all the users as the focus is shifting to the video content on the platform.
In the above example, you can clearly see that the new video carousels give users an expansive, side-scrolling display of video clips.
The video clips shown in these carousels are based on the app activity and profile details of the users. By tapping on one of the video clips, you can expand the video view. It will take you to its TikTok-like full-screen video feed in the vertical format. LinkedIn launched a full-screen video feed feature back in March as they are embracing the evolving landscape of video content.
Now, these in-feed video carousels will provide a good way for LinkedIn to promote ever-evolving user-generated video content on the platform. The video format will also boost LinkedIn’s appeal to the younger audience.
Just last month, LinkedIn reported that 1.5 million pieces of content are now being uploaded on the platform every minute. In that data, video is the fastest-growing content type. They also reported that video uploads are up by 34% year-on-year. So, there is definitely an increase in video content on the platform and the demand is also there.
That is why LinkedIn is coming up with such ideas to increase its popularity among the young audience.
However, LinkedIn is a platform dedicated to professionals who are seeking engagement on the platform. So, going all out on the video content is not a good idea. It is possible that in the long term, video content may not generate as much engagement as they hoped it would.
