Reddit Post Translation Option Available in More Languages

| Updated on 30 September 2024

Yesterday, Reddit announced that they are expanding their AI-powered post-translation option to more regions and languages.

This new option will now allow Reddit users in more regions to engage with content in their native language.

Check this out.

Here is what Reddit said about it.

“Earlier this year, we introduced a new machine translation feature to redditors in France, and to continue to bring Reddit to even more people around the world, today we’re starting to roll out machine translation to redditors in more than 35 additional countries.”

With this option, Brazilian and Spanish users will be able to translate posts with ease. The option is available in the post menu options on each update.

Reddit said that in the coming weeks, they are expanding translations to Germany, Italy, the Philippines, and countries throughout Latin America.

According to Reddit, the said feature will work whether you are using mobile web, apps, or desktop versions of the platform.

With this feature, Reddit is looking for users to contribute in their native or preferred language. After that, the AI-powered system will auto-translate their content into the community’s native language.

They are also adding indicators on translated posts, with an option to show the original post as well. With this, the new users can get the actual context of the text written in their native language.

For me, it is one of the smartest ways to utilize AI and machine learning to provide features that will make Reddit more accessible.

We also got to know that Reddit is also looking to use AI to summarize subreddit discussions and more.
