In 2019, Valve discontinued their Steam Controller – a much-loved device at the time. However, according to a new leak, the company is reviving the project and working on creating version 2 of the same. According to rumors, the Steam Controller 2 may soon enter mass production.
According to Brad Lynch on X (via The Verge), a new Steam Controller 2, codename “Ibex” – is actually getting made. His sources tell him that the controller is being tooled for mass production.
And a set of wand controllers for Valve’s “Deckard” VR headset, codename Roy, are also in the mix. He also says that it will have a directional pad, bumpers, grip buttons, triggers, ABXY buttons, and a system button.
He wrote, “Both are being tooled for a mass production goal in their factories right now. That’s why I know they’re in later stages of productization.”
Most likely, Valve would ship the unannounced Deckard headset at the same time as “Roy” wands.
Valve hasn’t commented on this as of yet. When they do, we will update you guys. These days, Valve waits till the very end to show a near-complete product before a surprise announcement about it.
