WhatsApp has announced that the platform has reached a milestone of 100 million users in the United States of America.
Here is how WhatsApp expressed the sentiment of reaching this milestone.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve written about the momentum of WhatsApp and today we have some exciting news to share. As of this month, WhatsApp now has 100 million users in the United States. This milestone has been a long time coming and it proves that WhatsApp is the solution to the cross platform divide in America. No matter if you have an iPhone or Android, people want private and secure messaging that works well for everyone and that’s what we do best.”
While WhatsApp has been the biggest messaging platform in the world, it has never really gained a foothold in the US. In the States, other DM platforms like Messenger are prevalent.
Messenger still has more than 200 million active users in the US. But off late, WhatsApp has been on the rise and that is why they’ve been making a few changes in the app.
Recently, WhatsApp brought new safety measures for group chats. More and more people are looking to enhance their privacy and ensure that others can’t snoop on their private conversations.
These days more and more people are relying on more intimate messaging chats as posting regular updates to social media has subsided. Now, the novelty of sharing everything with everyone has worn off due to an excess of social media these days.
That’s where WhatsApp comes in. In a bid to entice more users in the US, WhatsApp has been busy adding more and more features to the app.
