DM Editing is Now Available on X on iOS

| Updated on 5 September 2024

Amid the controversies, X has been busy releasing new features on the platform. With the DM editing feature, the company aims to better the lives of iOS users.

X users on iOS can now edit their DMs after sending them. They released their update over the weekend.

Have a look.

The engineering lead at X, Micheal Anderson shared this information through his X handle. He stated that iOS users now have the option to edit their DMs in the app.

With this feature, X’s DM options are now more in line with other competing platforms. But the DM platform on X still lacks one important feature, Encryption.

This is pretty ironic as the company has focused its approach on free speech and privacy under the leadership of Elon Musk. We still don’t know when end-to-end encryption will come to the X.

The paid subscribers of the platform have the option to activate the encryption for their messages. However, Elon himself admitted that “It currently works in a clunky way for one-to-one messages.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Elon has reduced the number of staff to around 20%. So, if some projects on X take longer to complete, then it makes perfect sense. However, we haven’t seen a reduction in the number of updates being rolled out to the platform.

With Elon Musk’s vision of an “everything app”, X is trying their best to integrate new elements on the platform.

In the past couple of months, X has rolled out many small updates. but the key updates are post-reply sorting options, video conference calls, auto-advance mode for video viewing, improved analytics tools, and more.

However, the platform hasn’t released any game-changing updates. All these updates are significant and have their own utility, depending on how users use them.
