YouTube users are complaining about the recommendations on Reddit. People are saying that completely irrelevant videos started showing in their feeds.
They are saying that some older videos that they’ve watched previously also overtake their feeds, watch lists, and more.
At the moment, something is not right with YouTube recommendations. It looks like an algorithm change has broken the system for some YouTube users. These users are now seeing old videos or a bunch of music playlists.
A user on Reddit wrote, “Two hours ago, everything was fine, but since then, it’s only recommending me videos with under 1000 views about topics I don’t care about.”
Another user joined in and said, “I had the same thing happen. My feed is trash and shows all these music playlists. They messed something up.”
Another one chimed in, “Yeah, I came here to this subreddit specifically to see if anyone else posted about this. My algorithm is messed up BAD. Has been since about noon today (EST).”
According to a user, the recommendation system started behaving weirdly around noon EST on November 25.
“Since around noon, my suggestions are 99% things I’ve already watched (some going back several years), and the other 1% is things it’s suggested to me in the past month that I’m not interested in, mixed with podcast playlists from channels I do sub to (but I’ve never once used whatever YouTube podcasts are).”
From this sudden change, we can assume that YouTube is tweaking some things within its algorithm. So, it may be there only for a few hours or days.
We’ll be checking up on how this story develops. We will update you if YouTube gives an explanation for this issue.
