Now, Instagram is adding an ability to include your favorite song of the moment on your Instagram profile, so users can highlight their music taste to visitors.
Music defines a person; it would be a good way to showcase who you are.
This is similar to a feature by MySpace which allows people to add songs on their profiles. On MySpace, the feature included auto-playing tracks that would come alive wherever anyone visited the profile.
Instagram’s version is not the same. For now, it will not autoplay the song but provides a means to showcase what you are listening to at the moment.
Here is what Instagram said about it.
“We’re excited to announce that you can now add a song to your profile, giving you more ways to express yourself through music. Your profile song selection will live on your profile until you swap out the song.”
Now, people can promote their favorite bands, stars, and artists through their IG profiles. It also allows users to showcase something of themselves with their music.
The company has been experimenting with this feature for quite a while now. Initially, it was spotted back in 2022.
They also tried the same with Facebook, but there was not much response from the users. Now, with IG, they are targeting the younger audience with this feature.
Instagram has been adding more and more music-related features to the platform as TikTok’s future hangs in the balance.
