The artificial intelligence has been the reason for so many groundbreaking innovations, recently, another AI company has introduced an AI-powered version of minecraft that operates without a traditional game engine. However, the game has quickly been exposed to criticism and highlighted the ability of AI to copy things to worse.
This time it’s Decart, an AI company that seemingly popped up overnight, has unveiled Oasis, “the world’s first real-time AI world model”. Oasis is reminiscent of Minecraft, but with a resolution and frame rate more akin to Nintendo 64 titles like Ocarina of Time (20 FPS, 360p) rather than any contemporary version of Minecraft.
“Oasis takes in user keyboard and mouse input and generates real-time gameplay, internally simulating physics, game rules, and graphics,” Decart says.
In the announcement for this new model, Decart published where this tech can go, saying:-
“Simply imagine a world where this integration is so tight that foundation models may even augment modern entertainment platforms by generating content on the fly according to user preferences. Or perhaps a gaming experience that provides new possibilities for the user interaction, such as textual and audio prompts guiding the gameplay.”
The use of AI in this context demonstrates the potential for future game development, offering a glimpse into how technology could reshape gaming experiences by reducing the dependency on conventional game engines.
While, this invention seems to be advancement on game space, however, considering the fact that these projects simply don’t exist without real video games to rip off. This technology operates on a simpler level that involves training on existing content, meaning you can’t just use AI prompts to create a completely original and complex game from scratch.
