The popular co-op shooter Helldivers 2 has now been delisted from Steam in over 177 regions. Delisting the game from Steam follows a controversial decision by Sony that requires Steam players to connect their accounts to PlayStation Network accounts if they want to continue enjoying playing the game.
Due to this unexpected incident, the community of the Helldivers 2 is displaying outrage on social media. They are asking the devs if linking the PlayStations Network (PSN) account to the game was an option at launch.
However, the game developer, Arrowhead cites technical issues as the reason behind a delayed implementation of the requirement. They are saying that this requirement was always part of the Steam page.
However, some players are pointing out several issues with this. There are some countries where PSN access is not available. Arrowhead has confirmed that they are trying their best to solve that issue.
Now, coming to the removal for sale from Stream. The game has been removed from Stream for sale in exactly those regions where PSN is not available. A Twitter user published a list of countries where the game can not be purchased. The total number of regions from the list stands at 177.
It is unclear what Sony is doing to rectify the problem. If they want some time to find a viable solution they will make a PSN account an optional choice for players.
