Latest iOS 18.1 Beta Brings Call Recording and Transcribing

| Updated on 12 December 2024

With iOS 18 out now, Apple has also expanded the iOS 18.1 beta to more devices. Previously, 18.1 was only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, but with beta 4 of iOS 18.1, the update is available to every device capable of running iOS 18.

Apple of course limited the beta update previously due to the headlining feature of Apple Intelligence. This new feature works only on the iPhone 16 series and iPhone 15 Pro models. However, there is more than Apple Intelligence in the new iOS 18.1 beta 4 update.

The other new features include call recording and transcribing. They are now more widely available, thanks to the iOS 18.1 beta 4.

According to MacRumors, these features now work on iPhone 14 Pro. Apart from this, there also have been other reports suggesting the same. Some reports suggest that the new beta update is available from the iPhone XS onwards. It means that it is available to all devices that can run iOS 18.

So, if you are using any one of these devices, go ahead and update your device to the latest iOS 18.1 beta 4 to get these awesome features.

When you are using your device, you should be able to tap an icon in the top corner of the call screen to start a recording of the call. Once you tap on that, a spoken message will be sent to everyone on the line that the call is being recorded. Once the call is over, go to the Notes app to get the recordings.
