Logitech has unveiled its first products in the VR hardware industry. It has announced the MX Ink Stylus, a 3D drawing and painting tool designed for Meta Quest headsets.
The new Stylus works seamlessly with the Quest controller, enhancing the creative capabilities of the Meta Quest headsets. This new hardware is compatible with Meta Quest Pro, Quest 2, and Quest 3. It also supports various painting and sculpting apps like Gravity Sketch, PaintingVR, OpenBrush, ShapesXR, Arkio, Engage XR, and more. If you are using a VR-ready PC, this stylus also supports Adobe’s Substance Modeler and Elucis by Realize Medical.
The controllers on the Quest headsets can also be used for drawing and sculpting, but this offers a more natural and seamless way to do these things. The company here is aiming to bring more and more accessories for Quest headsets so they can rival a laptop. Most likely, it will come up with Bluetooth keyboards, trackpads, and mice for the same.
Logitech Head of AR/VR Vadim Kogan says that the MX Ink “seamlessly transitions from 2D to 3D spaces with the tracking accuracy expected by Meta Quest users in MR.”
The company collaborated with Meta for this Stylus development to ensure that it works with both Quest 2 and Quest 3. It also says that “the first time Meta Quest headsets support more than two paired controllers at once.” So, you’ll be able to drop your controllers to sketch or take notes without having to switch inputs.
The all-new Stylus from Logitech will start at $129. It will also have two optional accessories, the MX Mat and MX Inkwell. The MX Mat is a friction-free drawing environment that can be used as a real-world canvas while painting in VR. The MX Inkwell is a charging base for storing and charging your Stylus, or you can use USB-C for charging it.
They will start shipping it around September 25.
