Now, Microsoft has released a new one-time purchase version of Microsoft Office 2024. This version includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
The new version of Microsoft Office is now available to purchase starting October 1, 2024. However, for most people, a Microsoft 365 subscription might make more sense.
Right now, people can purchase Microsoft Office Home 2024 and Office Home & Business 2024 through the company’s online store. They are standalone products and come after a long wait. The last standalone Office was released in 2021.
This Office 2024 edition is for those people who don’t like subscriptions but really want modern Office desktop apps.
The new Microsoft Office 2024 includes apps like Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint and these can be installed on your PC or Mac. However, using this doesn’t unlock new features in mobile apps, and also there are no co-pilot AI features.
Here is what Microsoft said in a blog post.
“Microsoft 365 is the best way to access the latest versions of the productivity apps that millions of people use every day to bring their ideas to life and power through tasks. But we know some of our customers still prefer a non-subscription way to access our familiar apps, which is why we’re releasing Office 2024 on October 1 for consumers and small businesses.”
This new version has all the updated features that were rolled out to Microsoft 365 subscribers over the years. This entire suit also has an updated interface with a fluent design and new color schemes across Mac and Windows. It also has improved accessibility tools and OpenDocument Format 1.4 support.
For a one-time purchase, people can buy Microsoft Office Home 2024 for $149.99 from Microsoft Store. The Microsoft Office Home and Business 2024 edition is available for $249.99. The Home and Business edition also includes a license to use the apps for commercial purposes.
Soon, these apps will also hit the app retailers online and offline.
