It’s only been a few years since Netflix announced its move into gaming, but now the streaming giant appears to be pulling back slightly as it shuts down its “AAA” gaming studio.
AAA gaming studio, internally known as “Team Blue”, was launched in 2022. This gaming studio had industry veterans like Chacko Sonny, Joseph Staten, and Rafael Grassetti. However, according to a report from GameFile, the studio had been shut down by the company.
In its report, GameFile says, “As of October 2024, however, Netflix has shut down Team Blue and all three of those big hires are no longer at the company, a company rep confirmed to GameFile.”
It was supposed to be one of the internal studios that Netflix had assembled over the years. To say the least, the Creative Director at Netflix Games posted a job advert just last month.
The advert reads, “We’ve got big narrative ambitions on team “Blue” at Netflix Games and we need great people to help us achieve them. If you’re passionate about designing systems that enable amazing stories to come to life, we’d love to hear from you!”
Netflix announced that they are getting into gaming in 2021. Since then, they have added new games on its platform at a steady rate.
This year, the streaming service revealed that there are over 80 games in development and they plan to release a new game every month.

He said, “Story has more context. Definitely a sign of new leaders pulling back from one big bet, but Netflix still has a bunch more studios and execs seem hyped on growth targets and show tie-in games.”
Netflix hasn’t commented on the matter. However, they confirmed with PC Game that the GameFile report is correct. Besides that, they didn’t comment on the matter.
