With DM usage rising on the platform, Instagram has been busy adding new features to DMs. Now, the platform will see some new DM engagement features to better your private chats.
First of all, the social media giant is adding drawing tools and stickers for the images shared in the DMs. This was previously available to the stories and feed posts.
This new update will allow the users to personalize the media sent through DMs. It will make it more engaging and personal for users to communicate through Instagram DMs.
Apart from this, the image-sharing platform is also expanding its cut-out option to DMs. So, you will be able to use specific elements from your photos as stickers.
Instagram added this cut-out feature to Stories back in May and now it will be available to the DMs as well. So, it’s not a new feature but for DMs it’s new.
The platform is also introducing birthday indicators within the Notes bubble in users’ inboxes. This feature will only be activated when it’s someone’s birthday. Essentially, it will help them remember the birthdays of their family and friends. In addition, a confetti animation will appear on the screen when the birthday note is tapped.
And lastly, Instagram is adding some new chat themes for Fall.
“Change your chat theme to curate your own vibe just in time for moments we’re all chatting about, like “Fall” for your Pumpkin Spice vibe and “Sabrina Carpenter” in celebration of her new album.”
Well, I am not sure how much it will impact user engagement, but it is another thing that is available for users to spice things up a bit in DMs.
