Reddit experienced a global outage for several hours affecting users worldwide. Downdetector got nearly 49,000 reports of inaccessibility on the platform.
The outage began around 3 pm ET and prevented users from accessing the platform on both mobile and PC. Reddit acknowledged the issue with the platform. They said there was a bug in the recent update and that caused the outage.
After this global outage, Reddit is back online and users can access the platform. Reddit confirmed this through their status page.
Reddit was quick to acknowledge and respond to users’ issues through Twitter.
Some users reported that Reddit displayed a black screen with the message: “Upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers. Reset reason: connection failure.” On the iOS app, users saw the dead Snoo head, the mascot of Reddit.
At one time, Downdetector had like 48,000 reports of the platform not working for users. Many frustrated Reddit users took to Twitter to voice their opinions about the issue they were facing.
Along with all the Reddit users, even the company joined in and shared a popular meme on itself.
Here is the tweet.
They even replied to this post saying “sorry sorry sorry.”
So, all in all, it was not a great day for Reddit. But users had fun and even the Reddit social media team joined in as well.
