YouTube Expands Access to Courses for Creators on the App

| Updated on 30 August 2024

YouTube is expanding its course options to more creators. Originally launched in 2022 with selected creators, YouTube’s courses option will now enable top creators to offer free or paid courses on the platform.

It will provide the creators with another stream of revenue. It will also enhance the Featured Product’s display for those using Live Shopping.

You can check out this example of course shown by YouTube through an update video. Now, creators will be able to build their own video education offerings right on the YouTube platform. This will provide another way to keep their audience engaged and bring more revenue as well.

The course option will be available through YouTube Studio in the regions where it is now available.

Here is what YouTube has said about it.

“Once you designate a playlist as a course, your course will have a special course badge on the Watch and playlist page, as well as in search home, watch next, and anywhere else your course appears. Courses will appear in a dedicated tab on your channel page and your course may be featured on youtube.com/courses for easy discovery.”

The company also says that creators can also include quizzes and associate them with specific videos. The courses will also have their own discussion section on the platform, a playlist-level comment section where users can engage with the creators and have a general discussion.

“When a viewer finishes watching all of the videos in your course, they’ll receive a badge, which appears in their “You” tab. An information panel on the course playlist page will include more information about the course length and chart the viewers’ progress.”

Channels can make them available for free or choose a charge for the course. The company says that this option is now expanded to more creators and regions from this week.
