Over the past couple of months, YouTube has been testing the “add Yours” sticker for YouTube Shorts. Now, the company is rolling them out to all users.
Check out this little informational video posted by the YouTube team.
You can see from the above video that the new “Add Your” sticker allows viewers to participate in an ongoing trend. With this, viewers will be able to create their own Shorts clips based on the content they are viewing.
This new feature is borrowed from Instagram, which itself was adopted from TikTok’s duet option. So, the borrowing universal approach of social media is continuing as they copy from each other. They hope to retain users on their apps with this approach. In the end, it will make most of the social media platforms almost the same.
Most times, it works. They keep doing the same and in turn, save money on conducting their own research. The only downside of this is that eventually, every app will start to feel the same.
YouTube Shorts, a feature copied from Instagram Reels, which itself was a copy of TikTok’s. Shorts have grown rapidly over the past year or so and are now averaging over 70 billion daily views. This encourages the content creators to add even more content to the Shorts format. So, it seems that YouTube’s bet has been successful in the Shorts format.
With TikTok’s potential exit from the US, Shorts will be even more popular than ever before.
