The video-sharing giant, YouTube is looking to add a new feature on the platform that allows creators to edit out content from the videos to avoid takedowns.
We’ve seen that YouTube has been working extensively towards giving more options to creators to deal with copyright strikes and content rule violations. This way, the creators can maintain the monetization, and keep up their content on the platform.
The company is trying out a new editing feature for creators to address the problematic parts of the videos.
Here is what YouTube said about it.
“We’re testing a new feature that would allow creators to edit some of their content if it’s been age-restricted or removed due to certain Community Guidelines violations. If the problematic portions of the video are addressed, the age restriction will be removed or the video will be put back on YouTube.”
Till now, if a video got an age restriction label or was removed for breaking YouTube’s community guidelines, creators had to appeal to YouTube and then wait for the result. After that creators will have to accept the result whatever it may be, and they will not be able to appeal once again.
But now, the company is giving creators another option to remove the age restriction label or reinstate the video with this experimental feature. On the support page, YouTube said that eligible creators will start seeing this option in YouTube Studio.
Once a creator edits a video, the YouTube team will review the changes made by the creator and then remove the age restriction label or restore the video. In addition to this, creators will also be able to appeal the decision as well.
