OpenAI’s ChatGPT was down for a few hours on Tuesday, reported The Verge. The chatbot experienced another major outage during the daytime in the US.
“ChatGPT is unavailable for some users,” OpenAI posted in its status message. “We are currently investigating this issue.”
Users also reported the issue on Downdetector.
Not just ChatGPT, but other AI tools like Claude and Perplexity were also down at the same time on Tuesday. According to TechCrunch, “An error occurred in the Server Components render. The specific message is omitted in production builds to avoid leaking sensitive details. A digest property is included on this error instance which may provide additional details about the nature of the error.”
People took to X to post about the issues they are facing with the AI tools. We don’t know for sure, but the likely explanation is that Microsoft Azure is not working properly. All these AI tools use Azure as their cloud service partner.
Last month, there was a similar outage at Microsoft that affected Bing, Copilot, ChatGPT, and DuckDuckGo. However, we cannot say for sure that this time they are facing the same problem.
Last November, ChatGPT was down for about 90 minutes which also impacted other OpenAI services. Later it was revealed that the outage was related to a DDoS attack.
The access to ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity is restored now. You can go ahead and try this on your own.
