A few months back, Meta added its AI chatbot to the search bar across its apps. The company started testing it in the US first and then in other regions.
The company has been testing its AI chatbot in the Indian market with selected users getting access to it. They have been testing it during the Indian General Elections.
After the testing process is complete, the company will expand its AI chatbot to all Indian users across all the platforms.
The new and improved Llama-3 large language model (LLM) will now be available to Indian users on platforms including WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook. For now, this LLM only supports English, they might add additional Indian languages later on.
The functionality of the Meta AI chatbot is somewhat similar to other popular AI chatbots like, ChatGPT from OpenAI, Gemini from Google, and Claude from Anthropic.
It can suggest recipes, plan workouts, create a calendar, help in drafting emails, summarize large chunks of data for you, and so on. On Instagram, it recommends Reels to users based on some parameters like search queries and more. On Facebook, it can answer some questions related to posts on the platform.
To access the Meta AI, users can go to the search bar on any of the Meta apps or open the meta.ai on their desktop or mobile. However, it seems they are gradually rolling out the features, so it may not be available right away, it may take a few days.
