For now, Apple has only announced its partnership with OpenAI to use its ChatGPT with Siri, but that is slated to change soon.
If you are disappointed that Apple is giving you only one AI option in its devices, don’t be. In the coming months, Apple will announce at least one other deal to add Google Gemini to iPhones. According to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is slated to announce the partnership with Google Gemini this fall in its premier event.
Gemini rumors have been part of iOS 18 as long as OpenAI has. Craig Federighi even hinted at this deal just after the Apple Keynote was over. According to Gurman, Anthropic has also been in the mix for a deal with Apple. He suggests that Apple may announce a deal with either of these two companies. He also suggests that Llama3 from Meta was rejected by Apple as it is not as good as the other three in the competition.
Aside from the Chatbot integration, there is Apple Intelligence. It is supposed to launch in beta form this fall. The company is looking to leverage AI as an enticing option for users and bring in some more revenue.
He says that the company may eventually roll out a subscription service for the best Apple Intelligence features. But that is not going to happen right away as Apple Intelligence is only available for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Apple will receive a cut from third-party AI service providers like ChatGPT or Gemini.
They are planning to launch their own generative AI system in the future and third-party services will fill a gap until that happens.
