Electric Vehicle manufacturer Tesla revealed its fully autonomous driverless robotaxi, the Cybercab on Thursday evening. Elon addressed the public and media at its much anticipated “We, Robot” event on Thursday.
Cybercab is a fully autonomous vehicle designed without steering wheels or pedals. With this launch, the company takes a significant step towards a future where driverless technology dominates the market.
It is a vision that Elon Musk believes will propel the company’s long-term growth in the electric vehicle market.
As you can see from the above image, the Tesla Cybercab is inspired by the Tesla Cybertruck. The new vehicle has two doors and also only two seats. Both seats are at the front with no second row of seats.
The new Cybercab will rely on Tesla’s full self-driving software. In addition, it has dihedral doors. It has a light bar at the front and rear, and large wheels with big disc-like covers.
Inside, there is only one screen in the center. The new car also does not include a traditional charging port and will rely on wireless charging.
During the event, Musk said, “We have 50 fully autonomous cars here. You will see Model Y and Cybercab, all driverless.”
Musk also mentioned that the company expects to begin producing the Cybercab in 2026. The new vehicle is highly optimized for city-based autonomous transport.
He also said, “We will make this vehicle in very high volume.” It means that we might soon see Cybercabs running in our cities.
