YouTube Brings Video Quality Settings for Shorts, Also Brings Minecraft Effect for Shorts

| Updated on 28 June 2024

Until now, the video quality settings option was not available for YouTube Shorts. Now, the video streaming platform has decided to add the playback quality settings for Shorts. This will enable users to optimize their viewing experience.

Aside from this option in Shorts, the platform will also celebrate Minecraft’s 15th anniversary by adding a new Minecraft effect for Shorts.

First, let’s look at the new video quality option now available in Shorts.

Short Video Quality Option

In the above image, you can see that there is an option to change the quality based on your internet speed or data requirements. You can use the recommended settings and it will adjust the quality based on the internet speed. There is an option of data saver mode, or users can use higher quality options.

According to YouTube, “Once a viewer has made a selection in the Shorts player, the selection will be applied either until a new selection is made, or upon exiting the shorts player.”

So, if you want to view the Shorts in the best possible quality, enforce the 1080p option from the higher picture quality option.

Apart from this, YouTube has been testing new ways to use Super Chat for different types of user interaction during live streams.

Here is how YouTube explains it. “We’ve heard from live stream viewers that they’d like a more expedient way to connect with the community, and what chat offers as of today feels too limited. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be experimenting with a “Reply” button, as well as the ability to like Super Chats, which will offer viewers more meaningful ways to interact with the community.”

This is a meaningful change for creators who live stream on YouTube. It will provide another option for viewers to engage with the creators

This week, YouTube is also celebrating the 15 years of Minecraft. They’ve added a new Minecraft effect for Shorts. The new effect places you in the game. This is pretty cool, but sadly you can’t interact with the elements of this effect.
