Sonos Officially Unveils Its First Wireless Headphones: Ace Wireless

Sonos is known for its premium audio products but they’ve never tried wireless headphones. They are entering a new segment by introducing its first pair of wireless headphones called Sonos Ace. The offering from Sonos can be compared with companies like Apple, Bose, or Sony. 

The new headphones will come with all the necessary features generally found in premium headphones like Bluetooth and noise cancellation. With this pair, Sonos will also please movie buffs with Dolby head tracking and easy switching between Sonos’ sound bars. 

It is loaded with all the features we expect from headphones in this category. These are over-ear style and each cup houses a 40mm dynamic audio driver. 

Sonos also offers active noise cancellation with eight microphones to make it the best in the industry. It also has an ambient-aware mode that allows the users to hear the environment they are in. 

These devices are compatible with apt-X codec on Android devices for better quality transmission. It supports Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless playback. You can also listen to complete lossless audio with the 3.5 mm to USB-C cable that is included in the box. 

Amazon Music, Apple Music, Tidal, and Deezer all support the Dolby Atmos and Sony 360 Reality spatial audio codecs. These formats generate a 3D soundstage for music by utilizing object-based mixing. 

It also supports optional Dolby head tracking technology, which maps playback to head movement as if you are listening through a surround sound music system. The company says that you can use the headphones with both popular mobile operating systems, Android, and iOS. 

One of the best features of this headphone is that you can switch audio playback between the headphones and Sonos Arc soundbar. This experience is pretty smooth and works by just touching a button. 

The company claims 30 hours of battery life and has quick charge technology that can give three hours of juice in just three minutes. The headphones will go on sale later this year.
